Dialectical Behaviour Therapy is an approach designed by Seattle-based Marsha Linehan, and the Behavioural Tech Institute.  While I do not provide full DBT therapy, I have been facilitating DBT- based groups for over 15 years.

The skills taught in DBT were designed to treat Borderline Personality Disorder, and focus on Distress Tolerance (useful in times of crisis), Interpersonal Effectiveness, Mindfulness, and Emotion Regulation Training.  I incorporate these skills in my work with all clients, and have found that the techniques work well with many other issues, such as anxiety, self harm, and  substance abuse, compulsive spending, chronic unhealthy relationships and any other impulsive behaviour.

These techniques can be incorporated into a psychodynamic therapy approach, or can be taught as a stand-alone approach.

Small private groups based on DBT skills will be offered beginning in January 2022. They may be in person or on a virtual basis.
